Summer is right around the corner, the weather is warming up and it's time to take the kids outside to some family-friendly, cool events to experience and places to go right here in the Queen City. May features some of the best kid-friendly things to do, so don't wait.
1.) FREE COMIC BOOK SATURDAY - The first Saturday in the month of May is known as FREE COMIC BOOK SATURDAY! On May 5, 2018, you can visit Comic Readers - S. Albert Street or the Comic Readers - Downtown location on 11th Ave. to shop or pick-up a FREE COMIC BOOK. For more information, please call or visit them online.
2.) WASCANA CENTRE - If you are looking to get outdoors and be more active, check out the Wascana Centre's Events page. Every weekend in May, there is a walk/run for a good cause like the Steps for Life, The Walk to Fight Poverty, Lumsden Beach Camp Banana Spring and the Canada Goose 24 Hour.
3.) REGINA FARMERS MARKET - First Outdoor Market of the 2018 Season begins Saturday, May 5, 2018 and will be outside every Wednesday and Saturday. Market opens from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM at City Square Plaza. Come & explore with the kids and try the FREE Kids Club activities.
4.) FAN EXPO REGINA 2018 - May 5 -6, 2018 at Evraz Place, come and meet the voices of your favourite anime characters, take pics with your favourite characters, there are Q + A sessions and photo meet and greets with your favourite celebrities, plus over 100 vendors for shopping, Artist Alley and so much more! 5.) REGINA RAILFEST - May 5 and May 6, 2018 at the Tartan Club. Get ready for the largest model train exhibit with over 20,000 square feet of model trains. Children 4 years and younger are free, Adults are $10 and Youths between 5-16 years old are $5. Family tickets are available too. Visit their facebook page for more details.
6.) STUDIO SUNDAYS AT THE MACKENZIE ART GALLERY - Every Sunday from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM, kids of all ages can experience arts and crafts for FREE. The first Sunday of the month is Storytelling Sunday. For more information, please visit them online.
7.) KIDS' CRAFT DAY AT VICTORIA SQUARE MALL - Saturday, May 12, 2018 children 10 years old and younger can come and plant a seed and decorate a flower pot for Mother's Day. This event is FREE by you must register. Time slots are from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM. To register, visit here.
8.) SASKATCHEWAN HIGHLAND GATHERING & FESTIVAL - May 19 & 20, 2018. Kids 12 years old and under are FREE. There will be lots of activities for kids experience and get involved in on both days. There will be bouncy castles, children's caber toss, celtic dancing to watch and much more. There will even be a visit from Princess Merida from BRAVE.
9.) SHREK THE MUSICAL AT THE GLOBE THEATRE - Begins May 23, 2018 and runs until June 17, 2018. Now you can see your favourite Ogre, SHREK and Fiona live. Based on the Dreamworks hit movies SHREK, this family-friendly musical is fun for all ages. Tickets are on sale now.
10.) CATHEDRAL VILLAGE ARTS FESTIVAL - Saturday, May 26, 2018. The festival runs for an entire week with great activities for everyone all week long. Funville is on Saturday May 26, 2018 from 12:00 Noon - 4:00 PM there will be kids activities and entertainment. Funville will be located at Holy Rosary Park (Angus Street & 13th Ave.). Admission is FREE.
11.) MOVING IN FAITH hosted by Regina Catholic School Division - Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 12:30 there will be a 2 KM or 5KM Run, Walk and Wheel chair event to celebrate FAITH FAMILY FITNESS AND FUN. There will also be Family fun activities at the event: a small carnival to be set up prior to the race which will feature a face-painter, balloon animal creator and dino bouncer. The event will also include a short liturgy. You must register for this event.
