Did you know that the JUNO Awards are being held in Regina this year? It’s true! Many of Canada’s biggest entertainers will gather in Regina for the special event being held on Sunday, April 21st. Will you be attending the awards show in hopes of catching a glimpse of one of the stars? Even if you’re not planning on attending the awards show itself, there are still plenty of ways you can join in on all of the excitement!

There are many events in and around Regina leading up to the big show. You can check the page for more details. Another fun idea is to plan your own special VIP Viewing Party at home! Here I’ll provide ideas for everything you need to plan your own red carpet event. I’ll take you through creating your own invites, planning your menu, stocking those swag bags and everything in between. There will be free printable games, recipe ideas and more. There is a lot to share so let’s jump right into it!

KinderBuzz - Juno Invitation

How do you invite guests to the best JUNO Awards party on the block? With a VIP All Access Pass! I’ve created a sample that you can personalize for your own party or use as an example to create your own. This free printable is a 2-sided invitation so print the first page alone and then flip the paper over to print page 2. These passes can be laminated and attached to neck lanyards (you can find these at your local dollar store).

Two colours that seem to stand out in the JUNO Awards advertisements are black and silver. These colours can be incorporated into your party decor in many different ways such as:

  • Black tablecloth
  • Silver serving trays (check your local dollar store for plastic options)
  • Black napkins with silver napkin rings(silver ribbon also works well)
  • Helium balloons
  • Silver star cut-outs

You can mix the black and silver decor with other music-themed pieces such as:

  • Plastic record backdrop (I found some at Bazaar & Novelty)
  • Inflatable guitars (Gale’s on Dewdney has these)
  • Musical note cut-outs (Gale’s on Dewdney has these)
  • Plastic microphones (Gale’s on Dewdney has these)

KinderBuzz - JUNO Foods

You can’t have a party without snacks, right? You’ll want to set out a delicious supply of bite-sized snacks for your guests to enjoy while watching the show and playing games. You can give these snacks fun JUNO-related names such as:

  • Bieber Bites (bite-sized appetizers)
  • Call Me Delicious (a fun twist on the popular “Call Me Maybe” hit by Carly Rae Jepson)
  • Bublé Bubbly (for sparkling juice in champagne glasses)

I’ve created free printable food tent cards to use at your party along with one blank card for your own creations.

Need ideas for delicious appetizers to make? You could try these tasty Tomato Pesto Appetizers or this delicious Southwestern Dip (both by General Mills Canada on the page). Both are quick & easy to make and are sure to impress your party guests.

Tomato Pesto Appetizers
- 2 tbsp basil pesto
- ¾ cup diced seeded tomato
- 2 tbsp finely shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 can Pillsbury Refrigerated Flaky Rolls
- 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

Heat oven to 375°F. Spray 20 mini muffin cups with cooking spray. In a medium bowl, mix basil pesto, tomato and mozzarella cheese.
Separate dough into 10 biscuits. Separate each biscuit into 2 rounds. Press 1 round in bottom and up side of each mini muffin cup. Spoon about 2 teaspoons tomato-pesto filling into each cup and press in lightly. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until biscuit edges are golden brown.

Southwestern Dip

- 1 ½ cups sour cream
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1 package Old El Paso Taco Seasoning Mix
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can Old El Paso Chopped Green Chilies
- Crisp flatbread pieces or tortilla chips

In a medium bowl, mix all ingredients except cheese, chilies and tortilla chips. Stir in cheese and chilies.
Cover and refrigerate 2 to 4 hours to blend flavors. Serve with tortilla chips.

If there is one thing a JUNO Awards party needs, it’s a guessing game for the winner in each musical category! This free printable game lists some of the major awards up for grabs along with the nominees in each of these categories. As guests arrive to the party, you can provide them with a nominations sheet to mark their predictions on. As the award show airs, guests can mark their own answers to see how many they predicted correctly. The person with the most correct predictions can win a fun prize – acceptance speech optional!

Need a fun game to play during commercial breaks? How about charades! This free printable charades game features Canadian artists and songs both past and present. How funny would it be to watch your little one act out “I Wear My Sunglasses at Night”?  For a silly activity idea, try setting up a red carpet photo area. Wrapping paper and painters tape can easily turn into a great backdrop for your photo area. You can supply props for the guests to use like rock star wigs, glitter hairspray, temporary tattoos, plastic or candy jewelry, feather boas, plastic microphones and inflatable guitars. Your local dollar store will carry many of these items and a shop like Gale’s (on Dewdney) would have the rest. Be sure to have a camera on hand to catch all of these silly moments!

KinderBuzz - Juno Swag Bags

A rock star party just wouldn’t be the same without some swag bags! Simple black gift bags and silver tissue paper can be used to create take home packages for your guests. Your swag bag can include items such as:

  • Rock candy on sticks (the Bulk Barn sells these)
  • Candy jewelry (the Bulk Barn sells these)
  • Temporary rock star tattoos (you’ll find some at the dollar store in the sticker section)
  • Homemade CD’s of songs by Canadian artists

Will you be planning a JUNO Awards party for your friends and family? If so, we want to hear about it! Feel free to stop by the's Facebook page ( to share pictures of your party on our wall.
